Juneau is committed.
To the future of the state.
To the shared values of all Alaskans.
To the state’s most valuable resource: its people.
For more than 100 years, Juneau has served as Alaska’s Capital City. This commitment is seen today through generous investments in technology, infrastructure and improvements to the Capitol “campus.” Consider all Juneau has done:
- Prime sponsor for Gavel to Gavel television, radio and online coverage of the Alaska Legislature, Supreme Court and the Administration. Several million dollars has been donated by the community of Juneau since 1995 to help support this program – so you can hear and see your government at work 24/7.
- In 1984, the community of Juneau donated $2 million to the State of Alaska to purchase land on Telephone Hill for future Capitol expansion.
- Donated millions of dollars of public buildings to the State for use by the Legislature. As a result, the current Terry Miller Legislative Building is now an important component of the Capitol infrastructure.
- Provided money in 2006 to purchase the Scottish Rite Temple building to expand the space available for Legislative uses.
- Alaska Airlines, in partnership with the community of Juneau, offers special fares to allow constituents (that’s you) affordable access to the Capital City during the Legislative Session.
